This is the second day there has been no mail delivered. Monday-Feb. 22/'21 & Tuesday- Feb. 23/'21. Now, I like most people have bills to pay. I have used this excuse before as it was true that time as well as now but it does sound like you're making up a big whopper. Sadly, it is TRUE and can't imagine why this time. I was told once that if someone can't come to work and they can't get a replacement, that's just too bad for us. If nothing happens tomorrow should I come and pick it up? People might he outside your door by tomorrow as 3 days is a bit much plus they might need a large wagon for delivery. Does no one care?? It would seem that is the reason or the manager should get a move on. What about medications that are for promoting health? Not worried about that right? Two days is TOO LONG!!!!!!!

I live in an apartment building in Royal Oak. Our mail has been very slow since before the presidential election. A blue box, two blocks down, which was widely used was removed and has since been put back. Since December, much of my first class mail has been extremely delayed or not received at all. Today is Friday and I haven’t had first class mail since Monday. Some important financial documents and cards were never received. I hate to think that this is an individual mail person’s fault. I have tried to contact the local post office, the national 800 number, and have tried online. They don’t answer the phone at all, or have a way to talk to them. So sad that this integral part of our country is failing. While many things can be done online, a great number of us choose not to, and some things the post office does for us is irreplaceable. I do not believe it is all the fault of Covid. Many people want to work and are able to. I certainly hope that the powers that be in this case get their priorities straight. You can’t force people to support you.

I live at an apartment complex. Post office tried to delivering a package to my mail box. Said lock is broken broken. Ok, fair enough. I told them to hold package at the post office and the following day I’ll pick it up. Next day... package not at post office. While the tracking information clearly stated that it was at the post office. On top of that there’s only two people working there. COVID-19, again understandable, short staffed. However before COVID-19 it’s just about same staffing. Called post office Previously and asked what do I do about the broken box. They said someone could come out and fix it for $25.00. I have to pay to get something on the post offices end fixed.Sigh* Yeahhhh.... When I actually spoke to the agent at the post office about getting the broken lock fixed she said you have to wait and see what the carrier says about the lock... What?! Obviously I had to pick up my package at the post office because the lock on the box is broken. The carrier before stated that. Does anyone working there know what their doing? I need some kind of maintenance person to fix the lock unless the carrier knows how to do this. I’m thinking I pay bills online. And I’ll now only buy things through Amazon. No reason use the post office if they want to play games. I guess This is why we pay taxes.. Worthless. No need for the post office.

I have at least 2 packages that have been at the post office one since 7/22 - tracking LY305607524CN and the other since 7/31 - tracking 9261292700548857205222. When will these get delivered, I am in need of them.

Update I finally received the package that arrived 8/21 the package that arrived at the post office on 7/31. But still have not received the one that has been at the post office one since 7/22 - tracking LY305607524CN. I really could use this before the fall for sure. How can I get my package?

Where is our dependable postal carrier? The mail has been late or does not arrive at all. During my jog through the neighborhood, I saw a carrier in the USPS truck texting but not delivering the mail. I received a check from another state that was posted Dec. 26, 2019 and delivered almost 6 months later on June 12, 2020. Yes, that was before the pandemic. There was a time when I could mail a letter before 5:00p.m. and feel fairly confident that it would arrive the next day. The Royal Oak post office was once the best. What the heck happened to it?

Tracking Number: 9405511699000929312065 This has been at Royal Oak for 2 weeks. Please send it to me.

I have a package that’s been sitting at your location since 7/13. It’s now the 27th and it’s still sitting there. Why are things taking so long at your location?

I have just moved in Royal Oak and in a week, I have already recieved the package of a neighbor and 2 of my packages were delivered to the wrong address, one of which is still lost.

my package from ups was delivered to you July 9 . Why haven't you delivered it ?

Tracking Number: 9405511699000579708768 My package has been sitting in your facility 'waiting for acceptance' since July 5, 2020 5:42 pm....Why has it not been shipped to me at Appleton WI 54915???

A package I sent to this area has not been updated in tracking since May 30th. It is now June 12th???Should have been delivered by now to my customer but has not.

On Chester Rd. The mail carrier obviously pays very little attention to the address on mail she is delivering. My neighbors are and I are constantly exchanging wrongly delivered mail. Yesterday I was notified that my package from Humana Pharmacy was delivered at 6:23. It was not. Then this morning when i called to complain that it was not delivered i was told that it now showed that the reason it was not delivered was due to no access! Liars, liars, liars!!! No doubt carrier delivered to wrong address and after she makes her rounds and picks up the package from the incorrect address she delivered it to yesterday then she hopefully will deliver to me. Last 6 months I have received someone else's mail and packages on average once a week. Carrier on Chester Rd. is incompetent.

This post office is run by thieves, we brought a cell phone in there packaged to return to AT&T and it never reached the company. So We are paying for this phone. That is not the only thing wrong, letters do not get delivered or they are opened and when they see checks in them they get returned to sender as undeliverable. As a federal agency this is disgusting, and don't bother calling there you get GRETA, THE SELF SERVING WITCH WHO THINKS IT'S OKAY TO SAY TUFF, I THREW IT AWAY. REALLY YOU STOLE IT FROM A YOUNG MAN IN THE COAST GUARD!!!! WE NEED A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION.

After 15 years of exceptional mail delivery by same carrier same time every day. Now suddenly my mail is coming most days after dark as late as 7:30 or not at all!! Different carriers all the time. I’m assuming my longtime carrier retired 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t know what’s changed and why but This is unacceptable and infuriating. Complaints and explanations fall on deaf ears. Royal oak has a huge post office and should be able to have all residential mail delivered before end of day. Every day.

I used to get mail every day for years. I get several magazines and catalogues every day.Last week no mail M T - On Wed mail received, somewhat more than usual. No mail on Th - Got mail on Fri - No mail on Sat.Received mail yesterday (Mon) - today T no mail. I did see the carrier walk across my front porch today (see note above for T).I

After years of exceptional service, 2018 offers a continuous error in delivery. We now typically receive our mail delivery after 7:00 PM and receive any other neighbor or city street address in our mail boxes. This is a big problem in our neighborhood, dangerous and someone needs to held accountable for the service decline.

We are not receiving bills and important mail. We receive other patrons mail that has to be forwarded. This has been going on for the last 4 or 5 months. We have lived in Royal Oak for over 27 years and have never had this many issues with the Royal Oak postal service. What is going on?

We have not had mail since Saturday. FedEx and UPS are delivering. USPS packages from Amazon are being delivered, but no mail. What is happening. I saw the van in the street twice yesterday. They stopped quickly at two homes and then drove away. No snow is in my driveway or sidewalk. What is the problem?

1

last week we got our mail 5 days. This week, we have not received ANY mail. It is Wednesday. I do not know if this is some kind of post office official decision to only deliver mail a couple times a week, or whether our postal carrier is taking a personal decision to skip a few streets each week. Either way it is frustrating to expect mail and then get it 4 times a week in bulk. It makes me wonder where other mail is going. Also, we often (at least once a month) get mail for other people on other streets - sometimes not even in our neighborhood. We see our mail carrier on the phone with his blue tooth while delivering and suspect this distraction is part of the reason for the poor service. I am considering getting a PO box to hopefully correct this dismal service. I don't believe anyone in the PO actually reads these comments, but I'm curious if anyone else has had these issues. Its discouraging.

We have the exact same issues with undelivered mail as the museumgirl. What is going on with the Royal Oak Post Office?

We need a post master that will get mail carriers that can read, for the past several months myself and many others in our neighborhood get each others mail and am also finding mail on the sidewalk/street. If these carriers do not want to take their job serious, I am sure there are many others that will.

I am beyond frustrated with the Royal Oak Post Office. I have lived at my home for over 1 year and just a few weeks ago, they started bouncing my mail back to the sender although I changed my address in mid 2016. I have missed important bills, a new debt card and credit card.

1

Returned mail stating to return to sender which is BCBS with full address. Mail has come back to us stating 'unable to forward/for review' 4TIMES! Please have the post master train employees on what to do with returned mail.

POOR! Three times I called the listed phone number looking for information. All three times I was told to hold, than I was told my call would be transferred to the operator. ALL three time my call was disconnected on transfer to the operator. YOU NEED A NEW PHONE SYSTEM!

My postal carrier has not been delivering my mail until after 8 pm on a regular basis! This evening, I pulled into my driveway around 9pm and there was a postal truck with its hazards on and the interior dome light on, parked on the side of the street. I live in a cul-de-sac so this is obviously a private area to park. As soon as I pulled into the driveway, the postal truck started to pull away...leaving the dome light on and flashers on. It continued driving in this manner out of the area.I have NEVER had mail delivered at this time of night. This is not acceptable postal service. I suggest discussing these issues with this new carrier. Feel free to contact with me for my address.

This is a NON-SERVICE!!!!! My local post office does not answer the phone. The national number will not transfer me to a human being. They should all just shut the whole thing down.

I see from the reviews below that the 'service' (and I use the term loosely) has been non-existant. Guess what? It's still non-existant. Went in this morning to mail a letter and buy a roll of stamps. I was first in line. There were 3 women 'working' behind the counter - 2 talking to each other over a clipboard and one at the counter doing....something. I stood waiting a few minutes. When there were 3 of us waiting in line she decided we could now be waited on. No hello, no smile, no nothing and no thank you or have a nice day at the end. Most unpleasant woman - Valerie. I won't go back to that post office. It's pretty obvious they could care less and are doing you a favor by waiting on you. No wonder more and more people are not using the post office.

Royal Mail Services Near Me

There are days when I have mail that is listed as 'out for delivery' and I just don't get any mail that day. Or like today I have a package that said it should have been delivered two days ago... nope not here. SERIOUSLY.

They don't answer the phone, no recording either. This is your government at work folks. Unionizing government workers was worst idea ever.

Why do they NEVER answer the phone? it just rings and rings.

Spent all day calling the office to try to talk to someone about a PO Box. I was never able to get an answer. I then tried the main line only to be told that no one subscribes to the voice mail box and that there is no attendant to answer the phone. The recording then hung up on me.
So, I guess the reason they are so busy is because to get an answer to simple questions, you have to physically go to the counter and ask. But then, they will get mad at you for taking up counter time to answer a question.

Took me three days to get a hold of anyone to schedule an appointment to get a passport. No one answers the phone. When I finally reached someone I had to leave a message - I never got a return call from the two messages I left. The contact phone number for passports is not correct on the website and neither are the hours. Contrary to what it says, you can not schedule an appointment on Saturday. When I told the gal on the phone the website had incorrect information she basically told me I was a liar. I tried contacting four post offices in the area and only Troy had an actual recording that worked but it too gave me the wrong phone number to Royal Oak. This has been the most frustrating experience I've had in a long time. The customer service and available hours to get a passport are the absolute worst!

Priority Post Box

Is is that hard to take the outgoing mail out of the mailbox, and put it in your bag, before you put new mail in? The two times I have put a letter in my box that past two weeks, the carrier has not taken it and has just thrown new mail on top. Do I need to put a sign on my mailbox that says, 'TAKE MY MAIL!!!'?

ALREADY have been through H... with the Shelby Twnp post office who sent my package to Royal Oak even though they were supposed to hold it for 15 days. So to be sure it was there, I called and let phone ring for 10 min. Finally NIKKI answered, only on accident bec she was making an outbound call. I explained I needed to make sure my package was there. She said she was making a call and answered by accident and that I would have to call back. I said I already let phone ring for 10 min! She said we are very busy so you have to come in. I said but I already did at the other post office who lost my package! She said she couldn't help. I asked if she could transfer me to someone who could. She said no I'd have to come in. I said I live far I can't do that. She said 'HAVE A GOOD DAY' AND HUNG UP IN MY FACE. It's been 15 minutes and i keep calling and no one is answering. UNBELIEVABLE. Thank you NIKKI for your kindness. You don't deserve a job bec many people would be kinder in your position. I hope you lose your job. Oh yeah, and since you hung up on me before I could respond, 'HAVE A GOOD DAY TOO NIKKI'. :)

I received mail on Monday. Late, but no problem. Yesterday, waited all day. Nothing. Clear streets, etc. What is going on? Can't get hold of post office . Just plain disgusted with service!

Schools were out for 3 days…our mail, unless it is local, comes from all over the county and the world on airplanes (that have still not caught up with the cancellations) and trucks (94 is still closed in places due to ice). People on vacations over the holiday have had trouble getting back, and even the grocery stores have empty shelves because some deliveries never arrived, and our trash guys are a day late. So take a chill pill and get over yourselves and wait like the rest of us.

I have not received my ma I l for 4 days now bc of the snow storm. The roads were clear on monday afternoon. What a joke and every year they lose money. Shocker! It just shows how inept government is and the entitlement mentality that these 'workers' have. I guess that is the union for you.

This is the most inept post office I have ever come across. Their customer service is horrible and their carriers are careless and dishonest. I have now been through 4 situations where it says package delivered and yet I never received it. WORST experience ever.

If you’re moving soon, you might be wondering “where can I find moving boxes near me?” Better yet – where can you find free moving boxes? After all, brand new moving boxes aren’t cheap. From hiring a relocation company to renting a storage unit, the process of moving to a new home already comes with a handful of necessary, yet cringe-worthy expenses. Out of all of the annoying moving costs, though, forking over one’s hard-earned money for a simple cardboard box is the worst. As soon as the move is finished, you’ll only be recycling that $25 bundle of bankers boxes, anyway (sigh).

Thankfully, there are ways to avoid spending big bucks on moving boxes. By seeking out free moving supplies near you from various stores, online marketplaces and community groups, you could save hundreds of dollars on moving expenses. With the exception of a few special-size boxes designed to fit certain TVs and mirrors, you could potentially move your entire home in free boxes as well. Wondering where to get moving boxes in your area? Below, we’ve listed 13 places to find free boxes near you to ensure your move is as cost-efficient as possible. Happy box hunting!

The 13 best places to find free moving boxes

  1. Craigslist

This online marketplace is a popular place to find just about everything. From couches for sale to job listings, your local Craigslist page is packed with an overwhelming number of great finds. The website even has a “Free” section, where locals can list belongings they wish to give away. I recommend starting here to see if anyone is giving away moving boxes. You can also post your own ad to let people know you’re in the market for free boxes and supplies.

  2. Nextdoor.com

Next time you’re wondering where to get moving boxes, check your local online community groups for answers. If you haven’t joined the Nextdoor.com neighborhood hub, then you should. Not only can you find helpful information about the area (think: city news, neighborhood updates, local services, etc), but you can also find loads of free stuff being given away by your neighbors. Oftentimes, this includes moving boxes. The community platform hosts a “Classifieds” section devoted to goods for sale and free giveaways. Think of it as one big online garage sale in your neighborhood. If you don’t see any free moving boxes listed in the Classifieds section, simply post what you’re looking for and neighbors should respond quickly.

  3. Liquor stores

Live near a wine and liquor store? It’s not a bad idea to pop in and ask the manager if you can take some boxes off their hands. Liquor stores receive a slew of shipments every month, which can easily be turned into moving boxes. Larger liquor stores receive more boxes than they know what to do with, so don’t be shy about asking!

  4. U-Haul Box Exchange

U-Haul’s Customer Connect Box Exchange feature allows people from all over the country to connect and find moving supplies. All you have to do is enter your location and/or a keyword, such as “Free Boxes,” to find someone near you who is giving away moving boxes. Usually, the people giving away moving boxes are folks who have recently moved themselves, and need to get a mountain of flattened moving boxes out of their house ASAP.

  5. Friends and family

The easiest way to find free boxes is by simply asking your friends and family. Knock on doors, text, and call around to see if anyone has extra boxes from recent deliveries, or possibly from moving, themselves. In today’s world, where everyone is plugged in 24/7, you can also just post a status on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to let friends know that you are looking for moving supplies.

  6. Large retailers

You can be sure that large retailers will have a massive amount of boxes sitting around in the back. After all, they’re called “big box stores” for a reason. With shipments coming in every day, you should be able to find just about every kind of box at your local Walmart, Costco, Petsmart, Sam’s Club, Home Depot, Office Depot, Target, K-Mart and Best Buy – among others.

  7. Bookstores

Large-chain bookstores and small, locally-owned bookstores, alike, should have plenty of boxes you can use to pack up your knick-knacks, smaller items and (of course) books You can also be sure that these boxes will be anything but flimsy, given how heavy books happen to be. Keep in mind that you can ask local college and university bookstores for extra boxes as well.

  8. Offices

I once moved the majority of my one-bedroom apartment using boxes found in my workplace. With reams of paper being delivered every single day, you’re sure to find a slew of paper boxes with lids laying around. If you work in a large office, chances are good that they have a recycling room somewhere in the building.

  9. Recycling drop off points

Ever been to a recycling drop-off location? It’s like hitting the moving box jackpot. Most cities have multiple recycling drop-off locations that accept flattened corrugated cardboard. Assuming these boxes are in good enough shape to use again, you’re likely to find multiple moving boxes for your relocation.

  10. Grocery stores

Both large grocery store chains and small grocers should have plenty of large boxes up for grabs. Grocery stores receive shipments weekly, sometimes daily, to maintain a fresh produce inventory, so there’s no telling how many sturdy boxes they recycle every day. Next time you’re grocery shopping, I recommend letting a manager know that you’re moving soon, and would love to take those extra grocery store boxes off of their hands. I’m sure they’ll happily let you take the boxes home with you.

  11. Freecycle

Check the Freecycle network while looking for free boxes. Similar to Craigslist, Freecycle is a great way to find free stuff in your community. All you have to do is sign up (for free) to join your local Freecycle community group. Then, simply post in the network that you’re looking for free moving boxes.

  12. Schools

Chances are good that there are multiple elementary, middle and high schools in your area. Call up the front office, and ask if they have any boxes laying around. The beginning of the school year is a good time to check, as the school will be getting a slew of book and school supply shipments in the fall.

  13. Facebook Marketplace

This popular social media networking site allows users to list and advertise items to anyone in the world. It also makes it easy to find local items available for easy pick-up. To find free boxes through Facebook Marketplace, simply type “free boxes” in the search tab. We recommend filtering the search by location, so that you can find free moving boxes in your general vicinity.

The dos and don’ts of box hunting

  • Do ask permission before taking boxes – Whatever you do, don’t just show up at a retailer or office and start taking boxes. You also shouldn’t rifle though a business’s or person’s trash without seeking permission. Not only is this dishonest, but it’s also downright illegal in most cases. If you’d like to take free boxes from a store or office, we recommend calling a representative ahead of time to ask permission. In addition, it doesn’t hurt to ask if they even have free boxes to give you in the first place. For all you know, the store may have recycled most of this week’s boxes already, and you may need to wait until next week to stock up.
  • Don’t take boxes that are broken – Boxes that are torn up or falling apart simply won’t hold up well during a move. After all, moving is rough enough on your belongings as it is without adding a less-than-sturdy box to the mix. Make sure that any and all free moving boxes that you’re using are in good condition. Moving boxes that are wet, warped, broken or torn should not be used to move belongings.
  • Do advertise that you’re looking for free boxes – Having trouble finding free boxes? Don’t forget that you can also advertise your request on a number of online sites. From Facebook Marketplace to Nextdoor.com, let neighbors know that you’re on the hunt for moving boxes. There may be plenty of people who have just moved but simply haven’t advertised their free moving boxes yet. Trust us – in all likelihood, they would love to have someone take those boxes off their hands. By making your needs known to the public, you’re likely to find free boxes more quickly and efficiently than by searching various retailers and offices.
  • Don’t use boxes that are dirty or smelly – In addition to avoiding boxes that are in poor condition, we recommend not using boxes that are dirty or smelly. Boxes that were previously holding food or items that emitted a strong odor should be especially avoided. Otherwise, your household belongings will end up smelling like whatever was in those boxes previously (pee-yew!). To avoid dirty or smelly boxes, we recommend not picking up boxes that have been sitting in trash cans and avoiding boxes that come from restaurants.
  • Do be careful when accepting boxes from strangers – When box hunting, make sure to use good old common sense before picking up boxes from people you don’t know. For instance, if picking up boxes from a Facebook Marketplace ad, we recommend bringing a friend and not going by yourself. Make sure you’re also in a well-lit public area, if possible.
  • Don’t forget to use Moving.com’s box calculator – Before box hunting, make sure you have a rough estimate of just how many boxes you’re going to need. Fortunately, our free and easy-to-use box calculator will give you a good estimate on how many packing boxes you need. All you have to do is enter the number of bedrooms in your home, the type of lifestyle you live, the number of people living in your household and your packing style. From this information, Moving.com’s box calculator should be able to give you a rough estimate of the number of boxes you’ll need to complete your move.
