Office 2019 for Mac; Office 2016 for Mac after v15.35 is also OK for Catalina. After v15.35, Office 2016 for Mac is 64-bit only. If you’ve been updating Mac Office 2016 regularly, you’ll be OK. Office 2011 for Mac will NOT work because it’s only 32-bit. Also support for Office 2011 ended in October 2017 so it’s really past time for a. MacOS 10.14 Mojave, the version of the Mac operating system before the new macOS Catalina, is the last version that supports 32-bit software.With Catalina, only 64-bit software will be supported.
macOS Catalina (10.15) was released on October 7, 2019. Technology Support Services will be testing Catalina with our 'standard' software to ensure it is compatible.

If you are planning on upgrading to Catalina in the fall when it is released, why not save yourself some grief and upgrade to the 2019 version of Office now? The “perpetual” version is $149 (for Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Office 365 starts at $69 a year.
